Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena
The top 10 men’s and top 10 women’s curling teams in the country will be coming to Jacksonville for the 2016 USA Curling National Championships at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena. Starting on February 6, these 10 teams will face off to earn the national title with a berth in the World Curling Championships on the line as the season-long points race comes to an end. On the women’s side, defending champion and four-time Olympian Erika Brown will lead her rink in a quest for third national championship in four years.

In 1978, a group of six men, dedicated to the mission of St. Mark’s Episcopal Day School, organized a 5 mile race and a 1 mile novice run. With an entry fee of $4 (including a t-shirt) around 1,500 runners participated. Mike Yarbrough won with a time of 26:33. Profits of $1,838.91 was donated to the school to benefit scholarships.
