The World of Nations community takes great pride in its long tradition of providing an educational experience for students of the First Coast. By embracing the opportunity to learn more about the world in which we live, today's children will be better prepared for their future in a global society and develop a better understanding of Jacksonville's cultural diversity. Schools throughout the First Coast are invited to join us Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Field Trip Days with two days of special multi-cultural programs and menus designed especially for children. (Due to space limitations, only pre-registered classes will be admitted.)
Many educational components await you at the 20th annual World of Nations Celebration. Be sure to visit each country to learn many exciting facts about their culture and way of life.
2012 Student Essay Contest
We have continued the additional component to the field trip experience, a Student Essay Contest. We are challenging students to write an essay telling us "How would you describe the U.S. (i.e. culture, customs, technology, foods, landmarks, traditions, holidays, etc.) in your first email to a pen pal from another country?" The first place winner's essay will be published in an upcoming edition of Arbus Magazine, showcased on our event website and featured in the World of Nations Celebration commemorative program. The winner will also receive four complimentary tickets to the World of Nations Celebration and be invited to read his or her essay during the Parade of Flags on Saturday, May 5.

Experience rich traditions, beautiful customs and intriguing talents from many countries. See dragons dance, hear new music for the first time, listen to fascinating storytellers and maybe even learn to folk dance! The possibilities are endless! Times and performances vary.
Passport to the World
No trip around the world would be official without a passport! As you arrive at the World of Nations, be sure to pick up your Passport to the World. Each country will officially stamp your passport as you explore and learn about each destination along your journey. Passports can be turned in at the Passport to the World booth for a chance to win fabulous prizes!

Field Trip Costs
The charge for the World of Nations Celebration Field Trip is $3 for admission into the park and an optional $4 meal and drink ticket. This price includes $3.50 for a meal and $.50 for a beverage. All chaperones will receive FREE admission, but they will need to purchase the $4 meal and drink ticket if they do not want to bring their lunch. If a student or chaperone does not purchase a meal ticket and decides to purchase a meal at the festival, it will be at regular cost. The children may want to bring spending money as each country has a craft market.

Chaperones
For the safety of the children, we require (1) one chaperone per (5) five students. Please be aware that chaperones are needed to supervise students and must be at least 21 years old or older. Teachers are considered chaperones. If students are conducting themselves inappropriately, they will be asked to leave the park and will not be allowed to participate the following year. Also, Metropolitan Park is a very large facility. We ask that the teachers insist upon students wearing name tags in the event a child becomes separated from his or her chaperone.
