We are proud to offer low- or no-cost entertainment and educational events, especially in these difficult economic times. Many residents, businesses and non-profit organizations are involved in or benefit from events such as the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, World of Nations Celebration, Jacksonville Sea & Sky Spectacular, Florida-Georgia Football Classic, Jacksonville Light ParadeSenior events, Metropolitan Park events, fireworks shows and many more. These events are vital to our community, its ability to thrive, and to be seen as an ideal destination for visitors with an impact of more than $200 million annually to our local economy. Mayor Alvin Brown announced an exciting lineup of activities for the 2012 Jacksonville Jazz Festival. The annual tradition will be held on Thursday, May 24 - Sunday, May 27. Some of this year’s confirmed performers include Sonny Rollins; Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White Trio; Patti Austin with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra; Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue; Poncho Sanchez and his Latin Jazz Band featuring Terence Blanchard; and Karrin Allyson.

 

The 2012 Art in the Heart of Downtown art show and sale is a part of the annual Jacksonville Jazz Festival and features the work of talented fine artists and master craftspeople from around the country. Festival patrons can enjoy the sounds of first-rate jazz performers and browse the work of talented artists from around the nation - all in a vibrant street festival setting.
